Program Overview

Survival is first and foremost as we teach these precious little ones to swim.

Our programs are the result of over 49 years of research and experience.

Our standards are world-class and our research is ongoing. Hence our programs are constantly changing as we continue to lead the way in the field of survival and swimming skills for babies, toddlers and young children.

Our goal is to ensure the long term safety of young children when in and around water, and we guarantee that learning to swim will be fun, stimulating and challenging.

Our unique methodology allows the teacher to tailor the lesson to suit each child individually according to their strengths and weaknesses.

This is evident in the outstanding swimming and survival skills of our babies, toddlers and pre-school children.

Why teach young babies to swim?

Infants and toddlers have limited ability to recognize the inherent dangers associated with water.

In fact toddlers and young children have a fascination with water and are naturally drawn to it.

The sooner a baby commences lessons, the safer they will be.  They will have already mastered basic survival skills by the time they are crawling or walking and able to independently access a body of water themself.  Hence the necessity to ensure every child is given the opportunity to learn survival skills from a young age.

Parents will usually enroll their baby into infant swimming lessons with safety being the primary reason for doing so.

Babies and toddlers will learn to love and respect the water whilst learning important safety and survival skills.

Although survival is first and foremost for these precious little ones, we ensure each lesson is fun and stimulating for both parent and baby.

Each child will build on their strengths and overcome their weaknesses through carefully selected games and activities.

This is an overall developmental program that will also benefit your child in other areas of life outside of their lessons.

  • Our interactive fun-filled lessons will allow your child to learn breath control, floating, propulsion, survival and safety skills.
  • The group structure of the lessons will enhance your child’s social skills as they interact with other infants and toddlers as well as parents and the teacher.
  • Over time your child will develop improved concentration and co-ordination.

As your child becomes proficient in each of the many skills along this wonderful journey, they will develop an abundance of self-esteem, confidence and independence.

Young babies learn quicker than older babies or toddlers.

A very young baby has just spent the last 9 months immersed in the warm liquid environment of the womb where they have been able to move freely and effortlessly throughout this time.

Therefore introducing a very young baby to the warm safe aquatic environment that infant lessons provide is a natural progression. It is for this reason that a very young baby will readily adapt and learn aquatic skills much quicker and easier than that of an older baby or toddler.

They will quickly learn the verbal cues in readiness for that special moment when they submerge happily and stress free for the first time.

This will be just the beginning of a wonderful aquatic adventure where they will learn to love and respect the water from an early age.

Very young babies should only be placed in a holistic program with mature instructors who are highly experienced in infant swimming.

Other Benefits of Infant Swimming Lessons

In the first 12 months of life a baby grows at an astonishing rate, not only physically but their intellectual development as well.

A young baby is like a sponge – taking in, absorbing and learning from all life’s experiences.

Enrolling your baby in swimming lessons will enhance their overall development throughout this period of rapid growth.

  • A baby’s brain grows and develops through stimulation therefore swimming lessons are an ideal activity for a very young baby.
  • Infant lessons provide a good physical workout as the baby propels against the gentle resistance of the water and parents usually find their baby tends to sleep better on swim days.
  • Exercise leads to a healthy immune system therefore babies who attend swim lessons usually tend not to get sick as often as their non-swimming peers.

Bookings are taken at any time throughout the year and block lessons are available throughout school holidays.
